DOUGH-Ray-Me (PART 2)

Today is going to be yummy. And that's because today is National Doughnut Day... AGAIN! Remember the last time we enjoyed this sweet Holiday was June 5. But today is November 5. So that means doughnuts have 2 days in their honor! In the year 1938, the Salvation Army received doughnuts from citizens. This was a cool way for civilians to show gratitude and send the troupes a little umph. People who like this treat were called "Dough Lassies." Who really knows how this desert got a 2nd day of kudos. We're just happy to partake for doughnut's sake.

It's THAT Time Again

Today is Daylight Savings Time!
Daylight Savings Time is when we turn the clock, to match the light projected from the moon and sun. Yes, I know. That means our curfew happens just a tad earlier. The good news is that's only in the Spring when we "loose" an hour. But during the Fall, we "gain" an hour. Which means we can sleep a little longer! Sounds a little confusing?
Then think of it this way:
Spring Forward
Fall Back.

Turn the clock 1-hour FORWARD on March 8.
Reverse clock 1-hour BACKWARD on November 1.

Be sure to find-out if your area uses daylight savings time. Remember you're awesome
around-the-clock!
Thanks-A-Zillion!

Hark. Whoosh Goes There!

When we're in-front of lighting, movement lurks from behind us. That image that follows us is called a "Shadow." There are many fun pictures you can create for shadow puppets: a deer, a bunny rabbit, camels, birds, turtles, and bears. You can make profiles of faces... But there's one shadow that seems to appear out of nowhere. And that's the shadow of WHOOSH! He's Aniimal Town's ghost. How many times does he appear in Guess Whoooo?
Happy HallowScream!

Got Mail?

Special Delivery!

It's a lot of fun getting and sending mail. Way back when, there were birds (pigeons) who were trained to deliver messages to people. There were also horseback riders, who would travel long distances. They delivered mail for those who wrote letters and invitations to their families and friends.  It could take weeks even months before you'll receive the letter. Good news is you don't have to wait for mail or packages that long. With the help of trains, cars, & planes, you can expect the delivery sometimes within a few hours. You can even send mail through the web. This is called an "Email." Special Thanks to all Mail Carriers & Processors for speeding our gifts to us!

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

I don't know about you, but us Aniimals love listening to music. And Singing-Along. When flying on a airplane, your neighbor might be taking a nap. So how do we continue jamming away? Easy... with something called "Headphones." There are 2 types of headphones we like to wear. 1 set of headphones has a band that goes over the top of the head, to secure the speakers. The other kind are known as "Earphones" becasue they sit inside the ear canal. Zina's Zanious Band members often uses a "Headset." Those are headphones that comes with a microphone. We can watch, dance, and listen, to Aniimal Town Sing-A-Long DVD. Don't forget "Music" is not complete without "U & I!"

Hey Neighbor

Today is National Good Neighbor Day. I don't know about you but having friends who live near by is a real blast. Especially if they live next door! Or even if I gotta' ride my bike to their home in the same neighborhood community. That's still a win, don't you think? I'm Kuba and one of my buds live in the orange house on the right-side of my blue crib. His name is Zooch. Man-O-Man just the other day we had a radical time going on adventures. I don't wanna' be a spoiler. So to find out exactly what happened, check out...

All Aboard!

Trains are a group of moving vehicles that travel on tracks; in or under the ground. Train tracks are known as a "Railroad." Tough steel are what railroads are made of. It takes many engineers, to make sure this transportation glides smoothly on the tracks. This type of rail transport is powered by individual motors or by one
Locomotive." [low-kuh-moe-tiv]
That word means "a train's engine." The driver of these connected cars, is entitled as the "Conductor." Boxcab & Caboose are other names for a train. You can be the conductor, and drive the Aniimal Town train of imagination!

Ex-Squid-Zit Ink

In the ocean, there are fish that can make Ink. Whenever they feel nervous, or afraid, those fish begin to dispense a dark & cloudy liquid. Fishermen are known to call them "Ink Fish." But the proper name for fish who produces Ink, are called "Cephalopod." [Sef- uh- luh- pod] The Octopus, and The Cuttlefish are a part of the same family. Guess who's also part of their family? Squids! Fish Ink is very popular in Italy and Spain. The Ink is used in many delicious meals, or even as food coloring. Cuttlefish are able to make a brown/reddish Ink called "Sepia." [See- pee- uh] Whether it be an Octopus, Cuttlefish, or Squid, they're exquisite. Wait... They're Ex-Squid-Zit!

I C U and U C ME!

Before mirrors were modernized, people used very shiny brass or bronze metal to see their reflection. Another way people often use to captured their reflection, was with water and anything that produced dark coloring. Mirrors are made with the most purest/cleanest glass. Gold leaf, aluminum, silvery metal, or copper, are usually placed in the back of the glass. To make sure the glass and the backing sticks together, two or three coats of paint are added-on to the backing. Then the glass is heated at a really hot temperature. With the help of a mirror, a few artists use the reflection they see of themselves. That's how they can draw a "Self-portrait." I guess that's the reason why mirrors used to be called a "Looking Glass."

"Mirror Mirror on the wall. Who's the coolest towner of all?"

Marco Logo

Hi. I'm Zooch. I just so happen to be a bear from a cool, tropical island. What is the image you see inside the water? This is called a  "Logo." If my memory serves me correctly, I remember telling Kuba what that meant.

"A logo is an awesome picture, that describes a company's business, with an illustration or a design."

So now you know what it means, Let's go over the logo in the water. It is a sun wearing reading glasses. There are a few shoes going around the sun. There's 2 sets of hands on both sides reaching towards the sun. And below is a pen that's exploding colorful ink.
This if the Official Logo for FUN THINKERS INQ.

P.S. Happy Birthday Aniimal Town

Fresh Air

Air purifiers are machines we plug-in, to help eliminate rough particles from the air we're breathing. If someone has asthma, or allergies, they may have an air purifier inside their homes. This is a good way for them to inhale cleaner air. There are a few air machines that have something important built-in called a HEPA filter. The main duty of this kind of filter is to vacuum-in at least 99.97 percent of the air inside of that room. And clear-away particles such as: dust, dirt, and dander from our wonderful pets. After a certain amount of time, those filters will need to be replace with brand new ones. It's really nice to share the air with you!

Mooo-ve Over

Dairy is the product of Milk, Cheese, Ice Cream, Butter, Yogurts, and Creams. Milk and other dairy products gives us something called "Calcium." That's what helps our muscles grow big and strong. Not only can cows make dairy. Goats, Donkeys, Horses, Buffalos, Camels, Sheep, Reindeer, and Yaks can make it too. The calcium is known to be part of many of our dietary nutrition. Not everyone can eat/drink dairy-made things. But the good news is there are many alternative products that still taste just as delicious.

"Why did the cow buy storage boxes?
Because he was MOOving."

DOUGH-Ray-Me

Today is going to be yummy. And that's because today is National Doughnut Day! A doughnut is a sweet desert, that is made with fried bread. While in the oven, the yeast will rise inside the dough. That's how doughnuts become big and fluffy. When the dough has cooled-off, you could either use a doughnut cutter to cutout a circle in the middle, or leave the dough just the way it is & add filling. They're known to have toppings like: powdery sugar, chocolate & vanilla swirls, and sprinkles. But most importantly doughnuts have ICING! If you're ready to celebrate this tasty treat, help yourself to a doughnut feast!

Busy Buzzzzin'

When not buzzing around, bees are busy working in a beehive. These insects are responsible for creating "Beeswax" and "Honey." They gather the nectar from flowers, to make this spread. It is said that honey never spoils. And that's BEE-cause it contains more sugar than water. So many kinds of bacteria cannot live in that dry type of environment. Honey also has a high level of acidity. The acid is another way honey wards-off icky bacteria lurking around. Bees family members includes: Wasps & Ants. Just like honey, You sure are sweet delight.

Moat-er Skills

A moat is a really big ditch in the ground. It surrounds the entire entryway of a Town, Building, or Castle. Usually a moat is field with water. Oh yeah, and alligators... MAYBE?

The point of having a moat is to keep the bad guys from entering.
But Towners are the Good guys! So how can we go inside a castle without needing a first-aid kit? Easily, if we just follow this riddle:

"If you want to cross a moat.
Might need a coat."
Most of all, Take a BOAT"

Kite Taking Flight

On windy days, it's always fun to go outdoors for a cool breeze. When feeling the flowing air, you can fly... A Kite! What is that? A Kite is an aircraft that is flown in the air. Kites operate within the basic laws of physics. Low pressure is produced, when the air flows above the Kite. At the same time, high pressure is being produced below the Kite's wings. This toy is built all over the world. There are even Kite Festivals & Competitions. Towners, keep soaring high in the sky, like A Kite!

According to legend, if you wear green on this day, you may find a pot of gold... But only at the end of the rainbow of course. Be on the lookout for Leprechauns, good food, parties, & parades. Even if you don't have any shamrocks near by, U R the best charm!

1 Path 2 Math

When counting, we're known to use our fingers, or other objects, to help us solve the problem... That is until a device was made called a "Calculator." Many centuries ago, 2 Universal Scholars by the names of Wilhelm Schickard, then Blaise Pascal had incredible ideas. Both of these inventors separately developed "Calculating Machines." Eventually the invention of the calculator was advanced by Gottfried Leibnizand, and later by John Napier. Thanks to all of them involved, we're able to solve the most difficult math problems. So glad to have a calculator, how about you?

The Whole Story

Growing in the open fields are many flowers and plants. Inside the plant, seeds grow big and strong. Each seed is considered to be called a "Kernel." Within every seed, there are three parts. Those three parts of the seed are responsible for giving us Antioxidants, Phytonutrients, Fiber, Proteins, Starchy Carbs, Minerals, Vitamin B, & Other Vitamins. A Whole Grain is the entire seed of a plant. Whole Grains are found in many things we all enjoy eating. From breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even some snacks! It has been recommended to have a serving of Whole Grains, daily. Here's a few items to look for, the next time you're going grocery shopping:
 .
  • Brown & Wild Rice
  • Bulgur (Cracked Wheat)
  • Millet
  • Popcorn
  • Quinoa
  • Whole-Grain Barley
  • Whole Oats & Oatmeal
  • Whole Rye

Bright Idea

Did you know that a lot of our electricity is fueled by coal? Electricity is the source that powers our Light Bulbs, & Heating. We also use electricity for Machines, Reading, Watching TV, Charging Batteries, and Playing Video Games. Not saying there's anything wrong with flashlights, lanterns and candles, because they too come in handy in case of a power outage. Coal is a natural mineral, that can be found in mountains or below the ground. The BRAVE people who gathers coal for buildings, and our homes, are called "Coal Miners." Thanks to all Coal Miners for your hard work, in order to give us power. Ok hand sign

Gotta' Get Packing

Moving from one place to another is called "Relocating." When we move into a new home, we never wanna' leave our Precious Memories or Priceless Treasures behind. That's why we pack our belongings inside moving boxes, for safe keeping. To prevent any damages towards our fragile items, it is best to use something called "Packing Peanuts." Made out of foam, Packing Peanuts are used to fill-in packages. It gives just enough cushioning, to keep our things intact. Though they are not edible, they sure make the process of moving pretty sweet.

Fixer Upper

Sometimes things get broken. But the cool thing is we can have many things repaired! All we need is a couple of tools. For minor repairs, we'll use a "Paint Roller." For the in-between jobs, we'll use the "Pipe Wrench." And for major projects, we'll utilize a tool very powerful, called a "Demolition Hammer." Tools are extremely dangerous. So please leave All Repairs to a professional! But in the meantime, get familiar with even more tools with:

Pik-Uh-Card

Did you realize that there are usually 52 cards in a deck? Many fun games are played with cards such as: Go Fish, Old Maid, & Crazy Eights. Not only are cards used for games, they're also used for stacking houses & castles. Most of all cards are what a lot of Magicians use for Magic Tricks! Remember no deck is worth playing, without YOU!

Thumbs Up

fb

Using hand gestures and hand signals is another way to communicate. Many people who are deaf, use sign language to converse with their family and friends. In the U.S. they use something called "American Sign Language." Deaf means a person who is unable to hear. How does it work? Simply by using your hands and facial expressions, in order to convey your "speaking" message. We can make an awesome hand gesture right now by doing this:

 Make a closed fist,
and extend your thumb upward.

And there you have it! This gesture is what you do when you like something. You're giving your approval. So towners, if you like Aniimal Town, please give us a Thumbs-Up gesture!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!
Let's Have Even More Fun.

Did you know that there are 365 days in a year? But sometimes we get an extra day on the calendar. Although specific rules apply for every 100 years, the extra day we receive is on February 29TH. We call this a "Leap Year." Every 4 years, we get an additional day, making it 366 days in that year. Why, you ask? It's because our calendars are supposed to match the length of time it takes, for Earth to orbit around the sun. Which is known as the "Solar Year." We're so excited to spend another awesome year with the most STELLAR TOWNERS in the world!
